Do you pay enough attention to your dock levelers at your loading dock? All commercial doors require proper installation, correct usage and regular maintenance, but dock levelers in particular are crucial to safe operation. Make sure that all operators are adequately trained and following guidelines. It’s also important that equipment is properly installed. Follow safety guidelines, such as keeping away from the dock leveler as a trailer approaches or leaves the loading dock area; not using a damaged dock leveler; and allowing dock leveler lips to extend at least 4 inches onto the truck.
